Putting on Christ (Andrew of Crete)

It is ourselves that we must spread under Christ's feet, not coats or lifeless branches or shoots of trees, matter which wastes away and delights the eye only for a few brief hours. But we have clothed ourselves with Christ's grace, with the whole Christ - "for as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ" - so let us spread ourselves like coats under his feet.

Peace Forever,
Firacub.

Saby - You really don't get this?

Could I maybe help you out here?

The people spread their clothes and branches in the pathway Christ took into Jerusalem...

There's symbolism there of the people laying down worldly rainments... I think 'Andy' is saying that it'd be better to, go the extra mile, so to speak, by laying our own purified souls down for His colt to trod on...

Remember?
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

A lot of people say, "Jesus? He's a friend of mine!"

But do we really mean it? Or is it just our lips drawing near while our hearts are far, far away?

Because of the Saviors' mighty Atonement we will all be resurrected to eternal life, he broke the bonds of death for us.

(Cool Beans!)

But he also said, ...Verily, verily ... Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of GOD.

It helps me to think about this...

...the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father.

Remember also that:
...the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

& I would add, "May it EVER be so!"

Now, if any of that helps you along your way ... it'd be well worth the tiny bit of time I took to type it in here.

Love your site Firacub.
I'll be back soon for more inspirations. :-)
